The New Paltz Ballet Theatre is a 501(c) (3) organization. Your tax deductible donation is greatly appreciated.

The New Paltz Ballet Theatre (NPBT) was established in 1996 by a group of parents and the then-new owners of the New Paltz School of Ballet, Lisa Chalmers-Naumann and Peter Nauman, formerly of New York City Ballet. The first production of the Theatre was a staging of The Nutcracker at the Wallkill High School, Wallkill, NY in 1997.

Since then, NPBT’s productions have grown in popularity and number, hosting Spring Gala’s such as Peter and the Wolf, Coppelia, Firebird, Swan Lake and Les Sylphide. NPBT’s The Nutcracker is a featured annual ballet at the historic Bardavon 1986 Opera House in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Productions of the NPBT feature student dancers of elementary school age through high school from the Mid-Hudson Valley, including Ulster, Dutchess, Columbia, and Orange Counties and professional dancers, most notably from the New York City Ballet. In 2014 the Theatre started sponsoring Master Classes taught by ballet greats such as Garielle Whittle, Wendy Whelan and Daniel Ulbricht.

Educational outreach is an important part of NPBT’s mission, providing support for educators and students to attend their ballets. NPBT also enables disadvantaged families to attend their productions through a ticket donation program to local shelters.

The New Paltz School of Ballet is the official school of the New Paltz Ballet Theatre, Inc. We at the New Paltz Ballet Theatre has been fortunate to have dancers from surrounding schools audition and join us for our annual performances of The Nutcracker at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House.
